Vocal Arranging & Performance

As part of a session skills assessment for the Riverside Music College HND students, I organised an a capella choir. I felt this would be a good opportunity for musicians who were not strong vocalists to learn how to harmonise and perform as singers.I recorded three harmony parts (low, middle and high) and split the choir into three small groups to learn each of the harmonies. I chose the song 'I will follow him' from the musical Sister Act. As my methods of vocal tuition are focussed on vocal cross-training, I thought it would be a nice idea to combine the gospel and musical theatre genres into a session skills module for popular musicians.
