Development of Vocalist Workshops Incorporating Cross-Training Elements

As a vocal tutor who uses cross-training methods, I created new learning materials and workshops for vocal students, helping them to combine classical and contemporary singing techniques.

Below are some of the presentations I have made as part of my vocal cross-training workshops. The workshops are a mixture of theory and activity based and are suitable for both young and adult singers. They explore stage presence, vocal techniques and musicianship.

School Projects and Music Workshops

Recently, I have been visiting primary schools in the Glasgow area, running short classes on singing and helping children to think about building character and encouraging group participation in singing lessons. The schools organised this through Riverside Music College and we are hoping to raise awareness of the tuition services available. When working with young children, the content is mostly activity based to make classes fun and engaging.

On 26th April 2025, I visited Mearns Primary. I held an 'Aladdin' themed workshop during the school culture day. The pupils had great fun and I even had my youngest ever student turn up!

On 8th May 2025, I went on a visit to Kirkhill Primary School. I ran a workshop with an 'under the sea' theme. I took some toy sea creatures with me; an octopus, a whale, a turtle and a seahorse. Each of the toys were matched to a vowel sound and helped the Kirkhill primary 3 classes engage in the vocal warm-up activities, associating animals with sounds. Unfortunately, we were not able to capture photographs during our visit but the 'Under the Sea' slideshow offers a glimpse of what we covered in the singing workshops.
